Jakirović initially said that Hull would need to complete medical checks before determining the seriousness of the problem.
The manager later provided a more encouraging assessment.
Mendy had experienced discomfort during training on Thursday, but a medical check conducted before the Manchester United match did not reveal an injury. Jakirović therefore suggested that the defender’s withdrawal may have been caused by fatigue.
